Of the many different arts of the Islamic world, jewellery is among the least researched. This is partly due to the scarcity of early material and also due to its portability, which adds to the difficulty of both dating and determining the provenance of extant pieces. The aim of this book is to overcome these onstacles. Using the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, an overview is provided of jewellery that has been created with outstanding variety, skill and virtuoso craftsmanship.
